In Loving Memory of Alejandro M. Tran

Kan. – The Wichita community is mourning the tragic loss of 19-year-old Alejandro M. Tran, who lost his life after his vehicle became submerged in the Little Arkansas River on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to the area of 21st Street and Burns Avenue, between Arkansas and Amidon, around 4:00 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Tran’s vehicle flipped upside down in the river. Firefighters from the Wichita Fire Department pulled him from the water and transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Alejandro was the only person in the vehicle.

According to the investigation, Tran was driving westbound on 21st Street when his car crossed multiple lanes of traffic, struck a tree line, and ultimately flipped into the river. Witnesses reported that the vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash. Due to the car’s position, a special tow truck was required to safely remove the vehicle, taking a different route from where it entered the river.

Authorities closed 21st Street between Arkansas and Amidon for several hours while the investigation was conducted. Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

Alejandro’s sudden and untimely passing is a heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and the Wichita community. Those who knew him remember him for his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
