Tragic Domestic Violence Incident in Midland Leaves Three Dead

MIDLAND, Ga. — A domestic violence incident in Midland on Monday, November 17, 2025, left three people dead, including a stepfather and his two teenage stepsons, authorities confirmed.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported that the situation began around 6:50 p.m. when Kelly Grigsby and her five-year-old child ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911, reporting an ongoing domestic dispute at 103 Christophers Way. Grigsby told law enforcement that the male occupant of the home was threatening the children and making threats toward responding officers.

When deputies arrived, they positioned their vehicles to illuminate the front door, as the home’s interior lights were off. According to investigators, Eric Grigsby, the male occupant, approached officers with handguns and ignored commands to drop the weapons. Deputies opened fire after he pointed the guns at them, striking him. Grigsby returned fire, and deputies continued to respond until he was down and no longer a threat.

After securing the scene, officers discovered the bodies of Grigsby’s 16-year-old and 14-year-old stepsons, both of whom had been shot. The 16-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 14-year-old was pronounced deceased after Harris County EMS performed lifesaving efforts.

Sheriff Mike Jolley described the event as a “tragic family violence shooting,” noting that deputies followed proper training protocols during the response.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is conducting a follow-up investigation due to the officer-involved shooting. The bodies of Grigsby and his stepsons have been sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
