GALVESTON, TX — The family of Fidel Estrada Lopez is pleading with the community for help following his tragic death in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning, November 16, 2025.
Fidel, a devoted family member and hardworking individual, was riding his bicycle to work around 6:00 a.m. near 53rd Street and Avenue R when he was struck by a white or silver pickup truck. Witnesses say the truck likely sustained front-end damage, including broken headlights, but the driver fled the scene toward the Seawall, failing to stop to help.
A Good Samaritan saw the crash and immediately called 911, staying with Fidel until emergency responders arrived. He was transported to UTMB Hospital around 6:50 a.m., but despite the efforts of medical staff, Fidel lost his life from his injuries.
The sudden loss has left a deep void for his family and loved ones. They described Fidel as a kind, dedicated, and hardworking man whose presence brightened the lives of those around him. His family says the tragedy could have been prevented if the driver had stopped to render aid.
