NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Authorities have identified the woman found dead on a sidewalk early Wednesday morning and have arrested a man in connection with her death.
Police reported that just before 3:15 a.m., 55-year-old Denna Marshay Williams of Norfolk was discovered deceased on a sidewalk in the 4500 block of Jefferson Avenue, near the intersection of Jefferson and 45th Street. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Williams was pronounced dead shortly after authorities arrived.
Following an investigation, police arrested 63-year-old Andra Leman Austin of Newport News, charging him with second-degree murder in connection with Williams’ death. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the killing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
