PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — What should have been a quiet Thanksgiving evening ended in heartbreak after a fatal single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 36-year-old Corey Deangelo Davis of Altavista. Virginia State Police were called to Level Run Road around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, where a tragic scene awaited them just east of Moods Road.
According to authorities, a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling west when it suddenly left the roadway, descended an embankment, and struck multiple trees with devastating force. Corey Davis, the driver and sole occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. He was transported to Centra Gretna Medical Center, where he later passed away from his injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor, though the crash remains under active investigation as officials work to piece together what led to the fatal incident.
The unexpected loss of Corey Davis has left family, friends, and the Altavista community mourning deeply. On a day meant for gratitude, gathering, and reflection, many are instead facing an unimaginable grief. Loved ones remember Corey as a warm, spirited individual whose presence was felt instantly in any room he entered. His sudden passing is a painful reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of holding close the people we cherish.
As the investigation continues, the community carries Corey’s memory with heavy hearts, offering prayers, comfort, and support to those who loved him most.
