Seguin, TX — The Seguin community is grieving the tragic loss of Cindy Wiatrek, 67, who was struck and killed Wednesday morning while crossing State Highway 123 just south of Seguin. The fatal accident occurred around 5:55 a.m. in the 14000 block of State Highway 123 South.
According to Seguin Police Community Engagement Officer Stephanie Larrimore, the incident involved a Seguin Police Department officer driving to work in a department-issued vehicle. Emergency responders, including the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, Seguin police officers, and Seguin Fire/EMS crews, arrived on the scene and pronounced Cindy Wiatrek deceased.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting with the investigation, while the Seguin Police Department conducts an internal review. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy. Authorities have not released additional details and are withholding the officer’s identity.
