CHARLTON, N.Y. — The Charlton community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jean Aabo, 78, and Torben Aabo, 85, a devoted husband and wife, who tragically died following a pedestrian crash on Tuesday, November 25. The accident occurred on Charlton Road near the Maple Avenue intersection just after 5:15 p.m.

According to New York State Police, the couple was walking north in the westbound lane of Charlton Road, heading toward their vehicle in a nearby parking lot, when they were struck by a westbound car. Both Jean and Torben were transported to a local hospital with severe injuries and were pronounced deceased later that evening.

The driver involved immediately called emergency services and has been cooperative with authorities. State Police confirmed that no criminal charges are expected to be pursued in connection with the incident. Charlton Road was closed for several hours between Stage and Swaggertown Roads while investigators assessed the scene.

Jean and Torben Aabo were beloved members of the Charlton community, remembered for their kindness, warmth, and dedication to family and friends. Their sudden and tragic passing has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew them.
