TRAVERSE CITY, MI — The Traverse City Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Lawerance Boyd IV, a resident of Traverse City and an employee of the City’s Parking Services department. The incident occurred on November 16, 2025, at approximately 7:48 a.m. in the 300 block of E. State Street. Officers responding to the scene found Boyd deceased. His next of kin have been notified, and the family has requested that his name be released.

Preliminary findings indicate that this incident is linked to the Attempted Homicide of a Traverse City Police Officer that occurred the previous night, November 15, 2025, at around 10:30 p.m. Authorities have confirmed that two suspects are in custody, and the firearm used in both incidents has been recovered.
