SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. – A 16-year-old boy, Brodarrien Tate, was killed Monday evening in a shooting at the Bryant Apartment Complex on Bryant Road in Spartanburg County. Another person, a 34-year-old bystander, was also shot while providing aid to Brodarrien. The adult victim was injured in the leg and is expected to recover.
According to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, Brodarrien was shot in a parking lot near his residence. Coroner Rusty Clevenger described the teen’s death as a tragic loss for the community.
Law enforcement is investigating the incident, and no suspects have been named. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
