According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, David was driving his 1990 Chevrolet pickup east on US 76 when he slowed down to turn onto Coffee Road. As he prepared to make that turn, his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2015 Ford pickup traveling in the same direction.
Emergency responders quickly arrived, and David was transported to Oconee Memorial Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical teams, he tragically passed away at 1:37 p.m. from blunt force traumatic injuries. Officials confirmed that the driver of the Ford pickup was not injured. The Oconee County Coroner’s Office later identified David and classified his death as accidental.
