JACKSON, Miss — A homicide investigation is underway after a Jackson man was found shot to death Monday morning on the front porch of his home. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of Gault Street, where officers with the Jackson Police Department were dispatched around 8:27 a.m. following reports of an unresponsive male.

When officers arrived, they discovered 49-year-old Andrew Knight Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel confirmed that Knight had died at the scene, turning the quiet residential area into an active homicide investigation.

Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones confirmed Knight’s identity and stated that investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting. According to Chief Jones, several individuals who were present or nearby during the incident have been detained for questioning. Their statements are expected to help detectives piece together the timeline and events leading up to the shooting.

Despite multiple witnesses being interviewed, no suspect information has been released at this time. Authorities have not identified a possible motive, and detectives are continuing to gather evidence, review statements, and canvass the area for additional leads or surveillance footage.
