PALO ALTO COUNTY, Iowa — The community is mourning the tragic loss of 35-year-old Jamee Weber of West Bend, who passed away following a three-vehicle crash in rural Palo Alto County on Friday, November 21. The incident, which occurred around 5:20 p.m. near the intersection of 440th Street and 470th Avenue, also left a passenger critically injured and sent another person to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities say the crash began when a Ram 1500 pickup truck, driven by 19-year-old Austin Stokes of Mallard, struck a parked vehicle along the roadway. After colliding with the stationary car, the pickup veered off the road and rolled. Two other parked vehicles—a four-door sedan and a minivan—were also heavily damaged. Emergency responders discovered Weber on the road’s shoulder, where she had been struck during the collision. Despite efforts to save her, Weber succumbed to her injuries at a medical facility in Palo Alto County.
The crash also left 64-year-old Carol Harding, a passenger in one of the parked vehicles, with serious injuries. She was airlifted to Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, to receive specialized care. Stokes was evaluated at a medical facility for minor injuries but did not require ambulance transport. Authorities noted that no one was inside the minivan at the time of the crash.
The Iowa State Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine how the sequence of events unfolded and what factors contributed to this devastating tragedy. Officials have said no citations have been issued and the investigation remains active.
Neighbors and community members describe Weber as a kind, vibrant woman whose presence brightened every room she entered. Her sudden loss has left friends, family, and the wider community heartbroken. “She was always full of life and ready to help anyone,” one family member said. “Her laughter and kindness touched so many, and it’s impossible to imagine our days without her.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Iowa State Patrol. Meanwhile, the community continues to come together in support of Weber’s loved ones, honoring her memory and the impact she had on everyone who knew her.
Jamee Weber’s passing is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
