32-Year-Old Woman Killed in Cheektowaga-Buffalo Incident

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Authorities are investigating a tragic and violent incident that left a 32-year-old woman dead on Sunday afternoon. The Cheektowaga Police Department reported that the events began shortly before 4 p.m. on Walden Avenue, between Hedwig Avenue and Alexander Street, when 911 calls indicated that a woman had been struck by a car and shots were fired by the driver.

Witnesses described chaos at the scene. Scott Le, a nearby resident, said, “I did hear gunshots out of my window. I have never seen anything like this.” Another neighbor, Elijah Pagan, added, “I looked and everything was going crazy. It’s not something you want to see; you’ve got kids that come and play at the corner of the street.”

Police confirmed that the victim was Alexis Navaroli of Buffalo, who was found deceased in the roadway. The vehicle that struck her was found inoperable at the scene. Authorities said the driver then allegedly carjacked another individual at gunpoint and fled the area.

The stolen vehicle was later located in the City of Buffalo, where a brief police chase ended near Jefferson and Best. 37-year-old Gary Green Jr. was detained, and a handgun was recovered. Green was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree robbery and has been remanded without bail pending a psychiatric evaluation and a felony hearing.

The Cheektowaga Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Alexis Navaroli’s death, including the sequence of events leading up to the collision. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the department at (716) 686-7457 to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The tragic incident has left the community shaken, with residents calling for vigilance and support for those affected. Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the events or has relevant information to come forward as the case unfolds.
