With deepest sorrow, the communities of Avon, Hyrum, and the greater Cache Valley mourn the tragic loss of 17-year-old CJ Fiefia and 14-year-old Xylie Hutchinson, whose lives were taken far too soon in a devastating crash on State Route 165 in Providence on Saturday evening.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when the northbound Toyota Corolla carrying the teens lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with a Toyota Sienna minivan. CJ, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. Xylie, a passenger in the Corolla, fought bravely but later passed away at the hospital from her injuries. Three other teenagers who were riding with them were critically injured and transported for emergency care.
The sudden and heartbreaking loss of CJ and Xylie has left their families, friends, classmates, and communities shattered. Both were young, full of promise, and deeply loved by those who had the privilege of knowing them.
CJ Fiefia was a bright, kind, and dedicated young man whose warmth and leadership shone in everything he did. He carried a spirit that uplifted others—someone whose laughter, loyalty, and compassion made a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He was a son, a brother, a friend, and a light within his community.
Xylie Hutchinson was a joyful and radiant young girl whose smile and gentle heart touched everyone around her. She was known for her sweetness, her vibrant personality, and the kindness she showed without hesitation. Her future was filled with dreams she never had the chance to fulfill, leaving a void impossible to measure.
As their loved ones face this unimaginable grief, they hold tightly to the memories—the laughter, the love, the hopes, and the moments that defined who CJ and Xylie were. Though their time here was brief, their impact remains forever.
May CJ and Xylie rest in eternal peace.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
