MAMOU, La — A tragic family dispute in Mamou has resulted in the death of one man and the arrest of his brother-in-law, according to the Mamou Police Department. Authorities confirmed that Kiyochi Shaw was fatally shot during an argument late Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 22, 2025, around 6:15 p.m., on 9th Street near Mulberry Avenue. Police said an argument between Shaw and his brother-in-law, Quintin Webb, escalated into violence. During the confrontation, Webb allegedly shot Shaw in the neck.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene quickly, and Shaw was transported to Savoy Medical Center, but despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. Officers secured the area and began interviewing witnesses as part of the initial investigation.

Authorities reported that the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the scene. Further investigation revealed the gun had previously been reported stolen. Webb was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. He has been charged with second-degree murder and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond at the Evangeline Parish jail. Police have not released additional details regarding the argument or what may have triggered the fatal confrontation, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
