In Loving Memory of Armani Floyd, 14, Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. — The city mourns the loss of 14-year-old Armani Floyd, who was shot and killed on November 21, 2025, in the 100 block of South Dearborn in the Loop neighborhood of Downtown Chicago. Armani, a freshman at Baker College Prep, had his life tragically cut short during an outbreak of gunfire that also left an 18-year-old male wounded, along with several other teens injured in sporadic shootings hours after the city’s tree-lighting event.

Armani had just recently transferred to Baker College Prep in early September, and he quickly became known for his confidence, intelligence, and vibrant personality. In his 5th-period African American Studies class, Armani’s presence was unforgettable—his voice, his laughter, and his sharp intellect lit up the classroom. Teachers recall his passion for learning, his ability to engage deeply with complex topics like the connections between South African Apartheid and systemic racism, and his determination to excel academically, including earning a 90% on a recent skills check.

He was a student who rarely missed school and took every opportunity to shine, leaving a lasting impression on teachers and classmates alike. Those who knew him describe Armani as a bold, thoughtful, and charismatic young man who transformed any room he entered.

The loss of Armani is being felt profoundly in his school, classroom, and across the community. Teachers, friends, and family are grappling with the heartbreak of a life so full of potential taken too soon.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Chicago Police Department Tip Line at cpdtip.com or 833-408-0069. Callers can remain anonymous.

Armani Floyd’s life may have been brief, but his spirit, intelligence, and joy will not be forgotten. His classmates, teachers, and family remember him as a bright light whose absence will be felt forever—especially in 5th period, where his energy, voice, and presence made a lasting mark.
