American Man Found Dead in Tobago; Suspect in Custody as Police Investigate

Homicide detectives in Trinidad and Tobago are investigating the tragic killing of 43-year-old Christopher Brown, an American citizen and builder from Silverthorne, Colorado, who was found dead late Wednesday night on the island of Tobago.

According to a local police report, Brown had been spending the evening in Castara, a small, peaceful fishing village known for its safety and welcoming atmosphere. He had dinner and drinks with friends, and later told them he planned to step out to purchase marijuana. That was the last time they saw him alive.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service responded to reports of an unresponsive man in the area. Upon arrival, Christopher Brown was found with multiple stab wounds, including a metal object still protruding from his back. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro confirmed that a suspect is in custody as investigators work to determine the motive behind the killing. Early findings suggest Brown was targeted, though no further details have been released.

Tobago’s Division of Tourism condemned the violence, noting that this was the first incident of its kind reported in Castara, a community widely considered safe.

It remains unclear whether Brown was vacationing on the island or staying there for an extended period.

Trinidad and Tobago has recorded more than 330 homicides so far this year amid a national state of emergency linked to threats from criminal networks.

As investigations continue, condolences are extended to the family and loved ones of Christopher Brown, whose life was tragically cut short far from home.
