HENDERSON, Minn. — A Minnesota man is facing serious charges after a tragic incident in which his wife died Saturday night when she jumped from a moving truck and was subsequently run over.
According to KEYC and court documents, 48-year-old Jeremy Michael Davidson has been charged with felony criminal vehicular homicide and felony first-degree DWI in connection with the death of his wife, 46-year-old Melissa Davidson.
Authorities say the couple had been drinking and arguing while driving home. Jeremy Davidson told first responders that Melissa began punching him during the dispute before opening the truck door and jumping out while the vehicle was still moving at an estimated 50 mph. The truck then ran over her, causing fatal injuries. Melissa Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies noted that Jeremy Davidson smelled strongly of alcohol and slurred his speech. After attempting a field sobriety test, officers placed him under arrest.
While sitting in the back of the squad car, body camera footage captured Davidson making several emotional statements, including, “I just killed my wife, dude… Why would you jump out of a truck doing 50 miles per hour?” He was also recorded saying, “Bring her back. I will go for life. Just bring my wife back.”
Davidson is currently being held on $100,000 bail with conditions, or $500,000 without. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 29 as the investigation continues.
