In Loving Memory of Andrew Knight Jr.

The Jackson community is grieving the tragic and devastating loss of 49-year-old Andrew Knight Jr., who was found shot to death on the front porch of his home early Monday morning. The heartbreaking incident occurred in the 5700 block of Gault Street, where officers from the Jackson Police Department responded at 8:27 a.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive person.

When officers arrived, they found Andrew suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and despite the swift actions of first responders, he was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. His home—where he should have been safe—became the site of an unimaginable loss that has left family members and neighbors in shock and heartbreak.

Jackson Police Chief Tyree Jones confirmed Andrew’s identity and shared that multiple witnesses have been detained for questioning as detectives work to uncover what led to the fatal shooting. At this time, police have not released any suspect information, and the motive remains unknown. The investigation is active and ongoing as authorities piece together the final moments of Andrew’s life.

Though the manner of his passing was tragic, Andrew should be remembered for more than the circumstances of his death. He was a loved and valued man whose presence touched the lives of those around him. His warmth, his personality, and the memories he created with friends and family will forever carry on in the hearts of those who loved him.

As the community waits for answers and justice, we lift Andrew’s family in prayer and support, hoping they find comfort during this painful time.

Rest in peace, Andrew Knight Jr.
