Ragland Mourns the Loss of Jagger Thorne Cox

Ragland, Ala. — The Ragland community is heartbroken over the sudden and tragic loss of 18-year-old Jagger Thorne Cox, who was killed on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after his vehicle became disabled on Interstate 20 near mile marker 131, close to Brussels Road and Georgia Road.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Cox was standing outside his car when another driver struck the vehicle at approximately 4:15 a.m. Emergency responders arrived promptly and provided immediate care, but despite their efforts, Cox suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene a little over an hour later. The Birmingham Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Jagger’s untimely passing has left his family, friends, and the entire Ragland community devastated. He was a young man with so much potential, known for his kind heart, bright spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. Neighbors and classmates remember him as someone who could light up a room with his laughter and generosity.
