The Greensboro community is grieving the tragic loss of 47-year-old Derrick Lamont Leach, who died on Sunday, November 23, 2025, after being fatally shot at his residence on 8810 Boylston Road. Deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 7:49 a.m. to a report of a shooting and found Derrick deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. His next-of-kin has been notified.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspected shooter as 27-year-old Jose Cristian Bravo-Martinez, who fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. A short time later, at about 10:16 a.m., patrol deputies located Martinez and attempted a traffic stop. The encounter led to a brief vehicle pursuit before Martinez was taken into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including Felony First Degree Murder, Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, two counts of Felony Robbery with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest, and several misdemeanor violations. He is currently held without bond at the Guilford County Detention Center.
While the investigation continues and justice moves forward, Derrick’s family and loved ones are left to carry the heavy weight of his sudden and violent passing. Yet even in the midst of heartbreak, they choose to remember the man he truly was—far beyond the tragedy that took his life.
