Henrico County, Va. — The Henrico community is deeply saddened by the loss of Michele Andrews, 75, following an early Monday morning house fire on the 1800 block of Leslie Lane.
Henrico County Fire crews responded just before 4 a.m., arriving to find smoke coming from the home. Emergency personnel quickly rescued a man and Michele from inside, transporting them to the hospital. Tragically, Michele passed away shortly after arrival. The man remains in critical condition, and a neighbor who helped during the rescue was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The Henrico County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the fire was accidental, caused by smoking material in a bed. While the circumstances were unexpected, the bravery of first responders and neighbors who stepped in to help demonstrates the strength and compassion of the community.
