Englewood Man Arrested in Allegany County Double Homicide

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Authorities have arrested a 65-year-old man from Englewood, Florida, in connection with the deaths of his two older brothers in Allegany County. The suspect, Scot Thompson, faces charges including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal use of a firearm.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening at a hunting cabin in the Town of Allen. Around 10 p.m., New York State Troopers responded to the scene and discovered the bodies of 70-year-old Mark Thompson of Connecticut and 69-year-old David Thompson of Florida. According to authorities, Scot Thompson engaged in a physical altercation with his brothers before using a rifle to fatally shoot them. Following the incident, he fled the scene in David Thompson’s vehicle.

Scot Thompson was later located by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Geneseo Police, turned over to State Police, and transported to SP Amity for processing. He was subsequently held at the Allegany County Jail for arraignment.

Autopsies for Mark and David Thompson are scheduled to take place at Strong Memorial Hospital. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, as troopers and detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

This case has shocked the local community and highlights the devastating consequences of family conflict. Law enforcement officials continue to ask anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation.
