PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning outside Johnny Gringos restaurant on Chester Street.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on November 22, the Painesville Police Department and Painesville City Fire Department responded to reports of a male shot outside the establishment at 11 Chester Street. When officers arrived, they found a 52-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders immediately began life-saving measures before the victim was transported to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
At the scene, bystanders detained the suspected shooter until police arrived. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Dylan Hayden Stalnaker. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital for treatment before being released and taken to the Lake County Jail. Stalnaker has been charged with Murder and is currently being held without bond.
According to officials, Stalnaker is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, November 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Painesville Municipal Court.
The identity of the 52-year-old victim will be released once family notifications are complete.
