19-Year-Old Cynthiana Man Killed in Early Morning Posey County Crash

POSEY COUNTY, Ind — Authorities in Posey County are continuing to investigate a deadly single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a young Cynthiana man early Friday morning. According to the Posey County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 9200 block of State Road 65 at approximately 3:26 a.m. after a caller reported a vehicle off the roadway and severely damaged.

When deputies arrived, they discovered a white Ford F-150 that had sustained catastrophic impact damage. The truck had veered off the roadway and collided with a tree, leaving the vehicle’s bed partially wrapped around the trunk—a sign of the force and speed involved in the crash. Inside the vehicle, deputies located the driver, identified as 19-year-old Parker Payne of Cynthiana. Officials confirmed that Payne was already deceased when first responders reached the scene.

The sheriff’s office stated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor, although the full cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Toxicology reports and a detailed reconstruction will help investigators piece together what led to the fatal collision.

Due to the extensive damage to the vehicle and the need for a technical analysis, the Evansville Police Department was called to assist with traffic reconstruction. Their findings will play a central role in determining the events that unfolded in the moments leading up to the crash.

State Road 65 in the area of the accident was temporarily restricted as investigators worked the scene, documented the debris field, and coordinated vehicle removal. Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional information will be released once all reports are completed.

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle prior to the crash or who has relevant information to contact their department.
