In Loving Memory of Shawn Sanchez, 14

Texas — The Robstown community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez, who was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon at the Figueroa Square Apartments. Found with multiple gunshot wounds, Shawn was transported to a hospital but tragically died, leaving his family, friends, and neighbors devastated by the sudden and senseless loss.

Authorities confirmed that Tuesday’s shooting is connected to an earlier incident that occurred on Sunday morning on West Avenue C. Police Chief Mike Tamez said investigators have been working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible. “We want to make sure this family gets justice,” Chief Tamez said, noting that officers and detectives have been working around the clock to gather evidence and follow leads. He also urged parents and the community to take an active role in preventing youth violence, emphasizing that children should not be roaming the streets with weapons.

Robstown Independent School District has responded to the tragedy by increasing security measures, adding counselors and social workers, and coordinating closely with local law enforcement to ensure students and staff feel safe. The district is encouraging the community to support one another and to reach out for help as they navigate this difficult time.

Shawn was known for his warmth, his kindness, and his potential—a young life full of promise tragically cut short. Friends and family remember him as a bright and spirited teen, someone who brought joy to those around him. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void, and the community continues to grieve while holding onto the memories of the young life that touched so many.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Robstown Police Department at 361-387-3531.

Shawn Sanchez will be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of others. May he rest in peace, and may his family and loved ones find strength and comfort during this unimaginable time.
