NEAR WALKER, Minn. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, November 16, 2025, near the Bayside Resort on Onigum Road NW.
Emergency crews responded to the 8000 block of Onigum Road NW shortly after 5 p.m. after reports that an officer had been shot during a foot pursuit. According to officials at the scene, the officer suffered a serious leg injury.
Fellow officers immediately provided lifesaving aid, applying two tourniquets that successfully stopped the bleeding. Due to the severity of the injury, a medical helicopter was requested. The officer was awake and breathing as he was airlifted for medical treatment.
The suspect involved in the incident died at the scene. No additional details have been released regarding what led up to the shooting or the events that occurred during the pursuit.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has been notified and will be responding to the scene to conduct a full, independent investigation, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
