It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the NHFFL Youth Flag Football League family mourns the passing of James O’Connor, a beloved player, mentor, and friend whose bright spirit left a lasting impact on everyone within his community. James’ journey with flag football began when he was just 8 years old, and from the moment he stepped onto the field, it was clear that the game wasn’t just a sport to him—it was a passion, a joy, and a part of who he was.

James absolutely loved playing football, and that love showed every time he took the field. Whether he was running plays, encouraging his teammates, or simply sharing his infectious smile, James brought an energy that elevated everyone around him. His dedication to the sport was undeniable, but what made him truly special was the kindness, humility, and positivity he carried with him both on and off the field.
As he grew older, James extended his love of the sport into coaching, taking on the meaningful role of guiding his younger brother, Jackson, for several years. His coaching style was patient, uplifting, and full of genuine care. James had a natural ability to inspire younger players, leading with encouragement, confidence, and a belief in their abilities. His presence on the sidelines was just as impactful as his presence on the field, and many young athletes looked up to him as a role model.
The loss of James O’Connor has deeply saddened the entire NHFFL community. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched. To honor his memory, his family will be holding a vigil at Lyons Park this Wednesday at 7 p.m. We invite all players, families, friends, and community members to gather in remembrance, celebrate James’ life, and offer support to his grieving family.
🙏🏈❤️
James, you will forever remain in our hearts and in the heart of the NHFFL.
