BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Authorities are investigating a fatal wrong-way crash on Highway 169 that claimed the life of a 29-year-old Shakopee woman Saturday. The crash occurred at the Hwy. 169 and Anderson Lakes Parkway interchange, involving three vehicles.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Pontiac traveling south in the northbound lanes of the freeway collided head-on with a northbound Hyundai. The impact caused the Hyundai to strike a northbound pickup truck.
The driver of the Pontiac, 29-year-old Jasmine Jayde Nanclares of Shakopee, was pronounced dead at the scene. The State Patrol has not yet released details about whether alcohol or seatbelt use was a factor in the crash for Nanclares.
The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old Nasteho Rashid Dagane, also of Shakopee, was taken to a Twin Cities hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the pickup, both 18 years old, were unharmed. State investigators noted that all other occupants involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The tragic collision remains under investigation as troopers work to determine the circumstances that led to Nanclares driving the wrong way on the freeway.
This heartbreaking crash has left family, friends, and the Shakopee community mourning the loss of Nanclares, described by loved ones as a bright young woman whose life was cut far too short.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the crash to contact the Minnesota State Patrol.
