Ga. — The Savannah community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 33-year-old Malic Stevens, who died early Sunday morning following a crash that occurred during a high-speed pursuit on Highway 204.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the tragic events unfolded just before 2 a.m., when a Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle reportedly traveling at over 100 miles per hour. Malic, behind the wheel, did not yield to the emergency lights, leading to a pursuit that carried him westbound on Highway 204, briefly exiting at King George Boulevard before looping back onto the highway heading east.
Troopers attempted to bring the chase to a safe end using a PIT maneuver. The first attempt was unsuccessful, but a second attempt caused Malic’s vehicle to strike the median wall and overturn. In the violent rollover, Malic was ejected from the vehicle, thrown over the median wall, and into the westbound lanes.
Despite Troopers immediately locating him and providing aid, Malic tragically passed away at the scene from his injuries.
The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation, but for Malic’s loved ones, nothing can ease the sudden pain of losing someone so young and full of life.
Today, family and friends remember Malic not for the circumstances of his final moments, but for the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he leaves behind. His absence leaves a quiet ache in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in peace, and may those who loved him find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
